My name is Rev. Anthony Vetrano. I was born and grew up in New York and am a graduate of St. John’s University and Maryknoll School of Theology. I was a public school teacher in Westchester New York for 25 years and recently retired in June 2022 and moved to Cape May, New Jersey.
I entered the Franciscan Friars and studied at Maryknoll School of Theology in Ossining New York in 1984 and obtained a Masters of Divinity. I spent 18 years as a Friar and was ordained a Roman Catholic priest in 1993; giving me many years of experience of empowering families to discern, prepare, and celebrate their particular ceremonies. While a member of the Roman Catholic clergy, I spent 10 years as canonical priest in the Archdiocese of New York, as a Director of a large Catholic Youth and Family Ministries program, I worked in hospice, parish work in East Harlem and spent time in Bolivia and Honduras. I left the clerical state in 2001 primarily over the issue of mandatory lifelong celibacy demanded of candidates for the priesthood.
I am a member of American Marriage Ministries authorized to perform marriages, baptisms, funerals, and other religious rites provided throughout the United States.
